Welcome to Flinders Park Primary School
What a lovely start to the year it has been! As we come to the end of Week 1, it has been wonderful to see our students and staff back at school, refreshed, smiling, and ready to learn. There has been such a positive energy around the school, with classrooms coming to life and friendships reconnecting.
We extend a very warm welcome to the new students, families, and staff who have joined our Flinders Park Primary School community in 2026. It has been a pleasure getting to know you already, and we are so pleased you are now part of our school family.
We are also excited to share that our enrolment numbers have grown this year, resulting in the addition of a second Kindergarten class. A small number of Kindergarten places are still available, and families who would like more information are encouraged to contact Stef or Karlie in the front office, who will be happy to help.
Thank you to our staff for the care, time, and thought you have put into creating welcoming classrooms and engaging learning experiences. This week’s focus on building strong connections with friends and staff has helped our students feel safe, supported, and develop a strong sense of belonging as they settle back into school routines.
New Staff
We would like to warmly welcome Mrs Lisa Crabbe, Mrs Kate Ruggera, Mrs Jillian Gorman, Miss Marni Smith, Mrs Melissa Jones, and Mrs Kelly Marwick to our Flinders Park Primary School teaching team for 2026.
Many are familiar faces within our community, and we are delighted to officially welcome you to our team. We are pleased to have you join our school community and look forward to the year ahead together.
Principal Team Update
With Mr Fielding currently on Long Service Leave and Mr Senn on medical leave, we warmly welcome Mrs Richelle O’Donnell and Mr Tynan Simojoki to the Executive Team.
Both Richelle and Tynan are looking forward to getting to know families and supporting our students and staff throughout the term.
At Flinders Park Primary School, our values of Respect, Kindness and Responsibility sit at the heart of everything we do. These values guide our expectations for behaviour, support positive relationships, and help us create a calm, caring, and inclusive school environment where every student can thrive.
PBS – New Positive Behaviour Token System
From next week, we will be introducing a new playground token system to recognise and celebrate positive behaviour. Students will be awarded tokens when they demonstrate our school values through kind, respectful, and responsible choices in the playground.
Tokens will contribute towards a whole-school reward, helping to build a shared sense of pride and connection across our school community. This approach reinforces our high expectations for students while continuing to nurture the positive school culture we are so proud of.
Breakfast Club
We are excited to be able to offer Breakfast Club five days a week this year in the Community Hub, from 8:15am to 8:35am. Breakfast Club offers students a friendly start to the day and supports wellbeing, connection, and readiness to learn.
Early Birds – Morning Arrival
To support a positive start to each day, students are encouraged to arrive at school between 8:15am and 8:35am so they feel settled and ready for learning.
Early Birds are students who arrive before classroom doors open at 8:35am.
During this time, students may:
Students will move to their classrooms when the music plays.
From Monday 9 February, this morning arrival process will operate as a trial until the end of Term 1. This approach ensures students arrive at their classrooms at 8:35am calm, settled, and ready to learn. It also allows staff valuable, uninterrupted preparation time at the start of each day, so they are ready to warmly welcome students when classroom doors open.
At the end of Term 1, we will review how this approach is working, including the impact it has on supporting students to show calm, focused, and ready-to-learn behaviours each morning.
Thank you for your support as we work together to create smooth and positive starts to the school day.
Uniform Reminder
We appreciate the support of families in ensuring students attend school in full uniform each day. Our school uniform consists of a red Flinders Park Primary School polo shirt with navy blue bottoms.
As a reminder, students are also required to wear a navy blue broad-brimmed hat while outdoors, in line with our SunSmart requirements. Students without a hat will be asked to play in shaded areas.
Quality Teaching and Learning
Thank you to our teaching staff for the care and attention given to setting up classrooms and learning environments that are welcoming, engaging, and purposeful. Establishing strong routines and relationships early in the year helps students feel confident and supported and sets them up for learning success.
Community Partnerships
Wanjoo Welcome Breakfast
Families are warmly invited to join us for our Wanjoo Welcome Breakfast on Friday 13 February in the Community Hub.
If you are available to help with the event, please contact Stef in the front office. We look forward to sharing this special morning with our community.
Thank you to our families for the support, care, and encouragement you have shown in helping your children make such a positive start to the school year. Your partnership plays an important role in supporting student wellbeing, learning, and belonging. We are excited for the term ahead and look forward to continuing to work together to support every student to thrive at Flinders Park Primary School.
Warm regards
