What an exciting week we’ve had!
The Easter Hat Parade, Wheelie Fun Day, and the P&C Easter Raffle draw have all made for a wonderful end to the term.
As Term 1 comes to a close, it’s a great to reflect on the wonderful learning, achievements and community spirit that have filled our school. From classroom successes to whole school events, it’s been a term full of connection, growth and joy. Thank you to our students, staff and families for your continued support and enthusiasm.
This week we were delighted to welcome back Mr Fielding, who has been on medical leave for the past four weeks. It’s great to have him back, fit, well and ready to roll. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs O'Donnell, who has done a fantastic job stepping into the Deputy Principal role during Mr Fielding’s absence. Mrs O'Donnell is looking forward to reconnecting with her class when we return to school after the holiday break.
Congratulations to our Your Move Team for 2025!
Flinders Park is proud to be a Your Move school! We are excited to introduce and congratulate our newly appointed Your Move Team.
Your Move is a free program run by the Active Transport team at the Department of Transport. It provides tools, information, and ongoing support to help people lead healthier, more active lifestyles. The program encourages students and families to swap a few car trips each week for more active ways of getting around—like walking, wheeling, riding, scooting, or catching public transport.
Supporting our team are Mr Fielding, Mrs O'Donnell, Mr Doubikin, and Mrs Ball. Together, they are planning loads of exciting opportunities for us to get active throughout the year!
ANZAC Day March
Unfortunately, Flinders Park Primary School will not be participating in the City of Albany ANZAC Day Parade this year. As ANZAC Day falls at the end of the school holidays, we have not had enough student participation to move forward with the event. We look forward to supporting this important and meaningful community event again in the future.
P&C Easter Raffle – Thank You!
A huge thank you to all our families who kindly and generously donated to this year’s P&C Easter Raffle.
Our top 5 prizes were drawn on Thursday at a special mini assembly, with over 50 prizes awarded in total!
Thanks to your generosity in donating Easter goodies and purchasing tickets, the P&C raised over $1500. This money will go towards purchasing new interschool uniforms for our students.
Dates for Your Diary
I wish all our students and staff a wonderful holiday break and hope it’s filled with rest, fun, and time with loved ones. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school, refreshed and excited for Term 2.
Students return on Tuesday 29 April.
Take care and stay safe.
Warm regards,
Kylee Weadley
We garden every Monday afternoon to give the canteen fresh fruit and veggies to use in lunch orders. We garden to help the environment, learn about nature, and develop life skills in the garden. We also have a lot of fun and get a little messy.
We do gardening with Mr Doubikin and students from classes 4.3 & 4.4, including year Fours and Fives. For those who are not really into gardening Mrs Senn runs a STEAM lesson (Science, Technology, English, Art, Mathematics) in which students create products for the garden.
In the garden we pull out weeds and plant new seedlings in our veggie patches. We harvest fruit and veg when it is ready. We water our plants every week. We spread mulch when it is time, and we have watering cans full of fun and worm juice.
The main benefits of the garden are fresh produce to taste and enjoy. And we have made lots of nice memories together with our mates. We have planted and tasted many different kinds of new vegetables.

Did you know:
Mr Fielding plays guitar and was once part of a rock ban called Cast In Rock
Mrs Ball is a Roller Derby enthusiast who loves going fast!
Ms Thompson can walk the whole Boardwalk in 32 minutes – wow!
Mr Senn is the President of the Family Genealogical Society of Albany
Mrs Weadley is learning to ride a motorbike
As part of our Positive Behaviour Schools (PBS) reward, our school organized a Wheelie Fun Day for our students for the second last day of term 1.
Kindergarten to Year 6 students could bring their bikes, scooters, roller skates and rollerblades, and skateboards to school and enjoy a fun-filled riding session with their friends.
Mr Fielding made the bike library available for students to borrow a bike and to join in on the fun.
Our deputy principals Mrs O'Donnell and Mr Fielding closed off the parent carpark and set up a little obstacle course for the students to weave through the set-up traffic cones. Some students explored the bush track next to the carpark.
The smiles were big and no one was deterred by the drizzly weather.
Later on, at assembly our principal announced our brand new Your Move student team and its members Kacie, Harlow, Ella, Charlee and James. They had their first team meeting and brainstormed ideas for future activities. We can't wait to see what they will organize for next term.
We conducted a Hands Up Survey to see how many students travelled by bike and other active travel methods to school to be part of Wheelie Fun Day.
This special reward day is a great way to celebrate positive behaviour choices and encourages and active lifestyle.
29 students represented Flinders Park at the recent Interschool B Division swimming carnival and tested their aquatic skills against swimmers from Spencer Park, Little Grove and Yakamia. Our school was undermanned in several events due to a lack of swimmers but those that attended were very competitive.
Big CONGRATULATIONS to Indi who was awarded Champion Year 4 Girl.
Our students were fantastic representatives of Flinders and many were given the "Lizzy Award" certificate - A Flinders Award only given out at Interschool Carnivals for outstanding sportsmanship and team support.
Yakamia were the outright winners (and will move up to A Division next year) and Little Grove won the Most Improved Shield.
Final results - Outright
1st - Yakamia
2nd - Little Grove
3rd - Flinders Park
4th - Spencer Park
Most Improved
1st - Little Grove
2nd - Spencer Park
3rd - Yakamia
4th - Flinders Park
Many thanks to Bronwyn for volunteering to take on 4th place judge.

This term, the students in 4.1 have been learning all about materials and their properties. To put their knowledge to the test, they were given a very special challenge: to design and build a container that could protect a real egg being dropped from a great height—just like the Easter Bunny might do if he had to deliver eggs from a plane!
The students got creative with their designs, experimenting with different materials and construction methods to give their egg the best chance of survival. There was plenty of excitement and teamwork as they built their unique contraptions.
The most anticipated part of the project was, of course, the drop itself! With great enthusiasm (and a bit of nervous laughter), the containers were launched—and the results were spectacular. While many eggs met a gooey end, two clever teams managed to keep their eggs completely intact!
Well done to all of 4.1 for their creativity, persistence, and sense of fun throughout the challenge!
Ms Walter

What a great first term it has been getting to know the kids, parents and staff members. Thank you all for such a warm welcome into this lovely school.
This term has been about building relationships and having a lot of fun! I am in 3.2 which has been a great resource for the kids to use at break times to come and chill, play games, build Lego and relax. I look forward to decorating it more next term and hopefully start running some clubs for the kids to enjoy!
I hope you all enjoy your holidays and come back ready to smash out term 2!
From your Chaplain
Mckenna
